Performance Prediction using Program Similarity
نویسندگان
چکیده
Modern computer applications are developed at a very fast rate and new features are being added to the current ones everyday. A computer architect is always looking for quicker ways to evaluate performance of the design on these applications in a relatively shorter time. Simulation is a very popular tool used in the early design phase of a microprocessor. But applications run for a long time and microprocessors are getting complex which leads to very high simulation times. With a reasonably quick workload characterization we should be able to predict performance of the new application on the system(s). This paper proposes two simple techniques to predict performance based on the similarity of the new application with already characterized benchmarks whose performance numbers are available. Each of these techniques is then used to show how speedup and cache miss-rates can be predicted for a given program.

Link Prediction using Network Embedding based on Global Similarity
Background: The link prediction issue is one of the most widely used problems in complex network analysis. Link prediction requires knowing the background of previous link connections and combining them with available information. The link prediction local approaches with node structure objectives are fast in case of speed but are not accurate enough. On the other hand, the global link predicti...
متن کاملIdentifying the best performing hardware platform based on inherent program similarity
An important problem in benchmarking is to identify the platform that yields the best performance for an application of interest. This paper proposes a methodology for doing this, using both microarchitecture-independent characteristics and genetic algorithms. We first compare the application of interest with the programs from a profiled benchmark suite. We subsequently make a performance predi...
متن کاملGene structure conservation aids similarity based gene prediction.
One of the primary tasks in deciphering the functional contents of a newly sequenced genome is the identification of its protein coding genes. Existing computational methods for gene prediction include ab initio methods which use the DNA sequence itself as the only source of information, comparative methods using multiple genomic sequences, and similarity based methods which employ the cDNA or ...
متن کاملA Novel Image Structural Similarity Index Considering Image Content Detectability Using Maximally Stable Extremal Region Descriptor
The image content detectability and image structure preservation are closely related concepts with undeniable role in image quality assessment. However, the most attention of image quality studies has been paid to image structure evaluation, few of them focused on image content detectability. Examining the image structure was firstly introduced and assessed in Structural SIMilarity (SSIM) measu...
متن کاملOn Evaluating MHC-II Binding Peptide Prediction Methods
Choice of one method over another for MHC-II binding peptide prediction is typically based on published reports of their estimated performance on standard benchmark datasets. We show that several standard benchmark datasets of unique peptides used in such studies contain a substantial number of peptides that share a high degree of sequence identity with one or more other peptide sequences in th...
